Friends one and all, the PB season is about to begin!
Assessments, dues, extra badges, and new member fees, will all remain the same as it has been for 15+ years. Tom Sullivan will continue as our Beach Manager and Sandy Niedojadlo will be our Events Planner and Social Director. Sandy needs volunteers to help with events. If you are interested in helping with one or many events, you can contact her through our email address at pbeachct@aol.com.
Your 2015 Annual Assessments Forms are now available online at our website: http://www.pleasurebeachct.org/membership--2015-forms.html Assessment forms are no longer being sent out by mail. This year you have the option to print your form and pay by mail, or submit online with a credit card. Assessments should be submitted before opening day, Saturday June 13th. Badges and stickers will be available for pickup at the beach parking lot on Saturday, May 23rd (Beach Clean-Up) and Saturday, June 13th (Opening Day) from 9:00 to noon. If badges are not picked up at the beach, they will be mailed to your year round address.
While you are at our website: www.pleasurebeachct.org be sure to check out the updated features such as Our History: highlight the "Waterford Association Inc." button and click on "Our History."
In 2014 we implemented a new "hold fee" policy that will go into effect in the summer of 2016. No assessed member can "hold" paying their fees for more than 2 sequential years. Beginning in 2016, anyone who has held a membership under the "hold fee status" for 2 or more years, will be required to pay a full assessed fee, or will forfeit membership. In order to rejoin, a current "New Member" fee would be assessed. An exception for hardship may be requested of the Board, in writing, but must be submitted prior to the 2 year expiration.
Beach Clean-up Day is Saturday, May 23rd at 9:00 am. Bring a rake and shovel, (make sure it has your name on it!), sturdy gloves, and your family. Storm fencing needs to be straightened or replaced, seaweed to be raked, and the rocks need to be cleaned of winter debris. There's plenty of work to do. Continental breakfast will be served. As voted on at our Annual Meeting last August, a new walkway purchased from Access Rec, will be put in place at the parking lot entry to the beach.
Opening Day will be June 13th. There will be security personnel checking badges and checking the membership roster throughout the summer season. If you are having guests for the day, please purchase a "guest badge" from the lifeguards. All members are required to wear their badges when on Waterford Association property. Please remember that dogs are not allowed on the beach at any time.
The season will begin with a neighborhood Tag Sale on opening day, Saturday June 13th. Anyone who wants to participate should notify DeDe DePhilips for details. You can email DeDe at pbeachct@aol.com.
Volunteers needed! Frank Ribas is heading up a group to rebuild the platform under the latrine. We need skilled members with tools to lend a hand. Send your contact information to pbeachct@aol.com.
